Introduction to Sailing
Revised to be more hands on, smaller class size, & very flexible scheduling
Combine a learning experience, summer fun, and “high seas” adventure into one class! In this two-part (8 hr.) class you will learn the fundamentals of sailing, and then put your newly-acquired skills to the test by crewing the sloop, the Ellie of Mayo, a 36′ Catalina yacht, sailing from Fairport Harbor. You will learn the language of seamanship which, combined with basic hand-on experience, will help prepare you to crew other boats, or captain your own boat after additional experience and training. This course will also guide students toward the many ways to complete the State of Ohio Boater Education Courses. The instructor, “Captain” Jim O'Donnell, of JEO Sailing, is a United States Coast Guard Licensed Master Captain.
